Publishing a PLR Pack From Rick Warid - a Traffic Case Study.

I've bought a couple of PLR packs from Rick Warid and have been sitting on them wondering what to do with them exactly.  These "PLR Packs" are crammed full of information and to be quite frank - at the price they come in at - $12 - I don't know how Rick does it.

My issue really, as stated, is what on earth to do with them.

A while ago (about 7 months) I bought a domain with a generic type name which I thought would be quite good for the health niche should I ever want to enter that area.  The domain was in a complete mess - I bought it without researching it and thought - "oh well, we all make mistakes".  Anyway I decided to give it a go - and after a few months the pages I uploaded to it started to rank after initially being buried for months.

So the other day I got the latest PLR pack email from Rick Warid via JVzoo and thought why not stick all those articles on new pages on the above mentioned domain and see how they rank?  There were 6 articles, each of around 500 to 700 words long, also included were a load of graphics for use with the articles and some emails custom written and ready to send.

So the purpose here is to simply take the PLR and see what happens to it ranking wise - in addition to this - I see the content as fairly high quality so if nothing else it pads the site out a bit and in this case it's bang on topic.

I have merged the articles into 2 HTML pages and cut out various bits and pieces of the images to make my own unique JPG's.  Additionally, there is a video file which comes with the bundle - so I have put a link to it and uploaded that too.

The structure of the pages is as follows :-

Root Links to New page 1.
New page 1 links to new page 2.

Both pages link back to the root page, but new page 2 also links back to new page 1.

So three tiered.

PLR Upload from Rick Warid.

This is a test to see if absolutely ANY traffic will come to this domain as a result of the upload.  There is nothing more to this test really.  I suppose in summary we learn.

Is buying PLR packs worthwhile for very small gains in traffic?
Do we get any increase in traffic as a result of the mere presence of the pages?
Do any other pages on the website rank better once these pages are fully crawled?

Below - you can see the extremely measly traffic my test website currently gets.  You can see when it "recovered" from whatever penalty it was struggling with quite clearly - so the site is good to go albeit weak.

PLR Traffic

Appalling stats eh?  Well - remember that every site we write starts out small - very small, and no matter what the gurus say about getting traffic made easy with this that and the other pile of crud they come out with - traffic is hard to get - period.  Because this website is so weak - it is the ideal candidate for publishing some extra content on to see what happens.

In fairness there are a lot more things I could do with this pack as advertised - although site content is the only real thing I have time for.  I could promote the pages, or the content placed elswhere on FB - there is quite a good info-graphic in there which could go on a couple of sites here and there - but no - this test is all about sticking a bit of content up and seeing what happens.  A very simple test indeed but also showing what YOU should expect from a search engine for your efforts in cases where you typed up all this great content or spent your hard earned dollars getting someone else to.  We will also get to see if the pages rank for anything they contain!

10/Nov/2015

Uploaded the pages and waiting for them to be crawled and indexed fully.

Test is as follows.

Root page starting position for "a phrase" is page 2 position 9 - so position 19.
The phrase is long - and there are 315,000,000 serp entries for it.

If the content helps the website in one iota at all - this should go up.

Ok - I have re-uploaded the stats page - quite impressive sofar - this is a "gut feeling" kind of experiment - and what you can draw from it is - keep heart - just keep building.  Simple as that - traffic growth from really cheap, content - structured and uploaded with a few pics.  Imagine doing this 100 times?  I will report back during the month to see how it goes.

26/Nov/2015

Ok - we are now upto the 26th (early morning as you can see) and the traffic boost from these two simple pages has remained consistent - even growing slightly.

I also got hold of another PLR pack which was 100% brand new for just $17.  Now for this one I started up a new domain - and used that content for the new domain.  However there were three articles left over which I thought would also sit well on this domain.  So I have created another 3 pages for this case study, and set them into the site as below - pages 3 4 and 5.  Simple structure with an index page link to each, and each one linking back to the home page and nowhere else.

Next new pages of PLR.

Each page is around the 700 words mark, and each contains a picture aswell - thats all.
I will upload the stats to see if the addition of this cheap content helps build traffic aswell.
Note that I cannot stress enough here - I am NOT looking at the keywords or anything else - all I am doing is adding content to build a site over time........

24/Jan/2016

Now that a month or two has passed, we can see from the graph below that adding the new pages to this domain has been a complete and utter waste of time and money.

Traffic fell away consistently during the month of Dec and as of today, I expect the total unique visitors to the site to be a little over half of what it got in december, taking it back around 4 months in traffic volume terms - this is a devastating blow to a website.

Useless.

I expect the uniques for Jan 2016 to be around the 120 mark at best.  I also added a 2 new articles / pages during January - to no avail.  Clearly site growth with regards to data has to be FAR FAR more than just adding new pages here and there.

This trial is over - the gain from the experience is the knowledge that adding a few pages here and there won't help you.  You HAVE to relentlessly add content to a domain.  So for small businesses where this is neither appropriate or indeed possible - your site will NEVER get any traffic from a search engine based on site size growth ranking boosts (if there are any).  Indeed - looking at the graph above, you can see that even adding pages the traffic is eroded and the website therefore destroyed.
