Using Free Parasite Sites with High Metrics for Links to Help Ranking

One of the most painful things about IM and SM is the fact that you need links from sites with high metrics to rank a website, and because people charge you for links (they don't often come free) and the fact that google hates sites that buy or sell links which subvert their index, they are extremely difficult to attain.

Over time, google in particular (although probably not limited to them) have de-valued links from various sources - like parasite sites - a good example of this action on a non-traditional type of parasite domain would be statistic spam links - take Awstats - where the statistic pages on some servers were crawlable.  Spammers would make HTTP requests to these servers (domains) using custom written bots in a manner which is as follows (in non-technical summary) :-

Start
Place the website or URL you want to get a link TO in the referrer part of a HTTP request within a bot.
Perform the page request against the site you want the link ON
Repeat from Start - 300 times.

Ok - the 300 is variable - its needed sometimes because of a quirk (well more just "the way" awstats summarises the statistical data). The 300 ensures that basically your bots REFERRER URL is one of the top referring URLS to the website you want the link on and this makes sure that the link remains in the list on the stats page and is visible to crawlers.

After running this, a single entry is created in the stats page which contains a direct href dofollow link to your URL, along with a total (three hundred in this case) number of times.

Now - people then created crawlers which performed this task across thousands of websites - imagine the impact!!!

These types of links are no longer any value for SEO whatsoever - interestingly enough though I still get a lot of .ru crud in my stats, obviously placed there by people still running these stupid bots years after the value was destroyed.  I guess they need to come here and have a read hehe!

The VERY IMPORTANT point I am making above, is that there are many many different places you can get links from - but the vast majority are utterly useless for any efforts towards search engine rankings.  What people actually believe in us stupendous, the forums are clogged full of totally obscene claims about links which work, web 2.0 this, social that - most of it is nothing more than any of the following :-

Pure speculation at best from people who cannot even structure an explanation of their ridiculous theories.

Time wasting (and I mean YEARS!)

MIS-DIRECTION (you better believe it - many forums are crammed with members who view themselves as locked in a deadly competition - WITH YOU!!)

Sales drivel - people claim their products are great and will deliver results - total BS.  Do you really think a $5 gig or some stupid link "blast" at $47 will "skyrocket your rankings" - DREAM ON.  If these services were as powerful as they claim, they would never be sold on - EVER

Anyone who gives you a source of links which they claim can offer any help at all with SEO should be able to PROVE their worth.  If you are with me on this - and you understand that the vast majority of link sources is DEAD - then read on.

Poking around the net the other day I came across a terrible website in the weightloss niche.  It was ranked number 3 on google for a competetive term.  So I thought i'd check out its inbound links with ahrefs.  Up there at the top were two really surprising domains - both of which allow users to create a free site on them - and both of which form the major part of what was really quite a poor backlink profile.

Now this is not a new concept - it is normally referred to as "parasite hosting" - whereby an SEO will create a site on a host with a high set of metrics, in the hope of passing some of this juice on to a target domain.  Most hosts of this type now either NOFOLLOW their outbound links, or they are possibly in some kind of a "devalue" list so that any link strength is nulled (or worse).

This case study is in place to establish whether the two parasite hosts I have located are still "passing the juice" as it were.  If they are - then it's worth dropping the odd page onto them here and there and linking out - if they are not - then I have hopefully saved you a load of time, speculation and effort - and you can move on to something worthwhile.

A quick note on terminology for you regarding "parasite hosting".

You will see people online putting up pages which define parasite hosting as a website which has been illegally hacked and had a link placed on it.  If you read this anywhere - then you are in drongo land - because that is NOT what parasite hosting is and you are better off ignoring anyone telling you anything along those lines - they either have no clue about the internet or they are lying or mis-directing you.

The term parasite hosting has been changed to include this type of activity by those who don't have the imagination to call the new tactics anything more descriptive.  Fairly typical when there are so many inexperienced people around trying to make themselves look good.

That type of link and sometimes visitor redirection is discussed elsewhere on imjourney.com and it has nothing to do with the topic on this page.

The true definition of using parasitic hosting for links (which we ARE doing here) is actually not anywhere near as sinister as its name suggests.  All it is, is a process whereby you use free webspace on a free service, provided by a site whose sole purpose in life is to give free sites out, and link to your main site from the free site.  Period - ignore any drongo prat who says otherwise - it's probably just some stupid script kiddie thinking they know everything and trying to flog some low grade SEO service.

Parasite site linking.

Parasite site linking case study.

17/Nov/2015

Started to create a small website on a parasite.  The domain metrics for the parasite are as follows :-

Parasite - as in diagram above.

Metrics

The website I create is broadly on topic with the target website we want to rank.  The target phrase is used on the page doing the linking, and in terms of the subject matter, words are used which match semantically with synonyms - the page should therefore be classified by a search algorithm as "related" to the target.

Once the site is completed (should be by tomorrow (18th)) - there will be a delay whilst it is crawled and indexed.  This will be done BEFORE the link is added.  No real reason for this other than a gut feeling that the link will look more natural if added to an existing website.

I will be watching carefully to see whether indexing of the parasite requires an external link for them to be found - hopefully the site is pinging some service or other and they are crawled without help.

More shiz.  The parasite site didn't get crawled by itself - so I added a link to its root - the linking page has been crawled.  The current status of the parasite in google is that a sub-page of it is indexed - but not the root.  We wait.

08/Dec/2015

Ok - the parasite is now fully indexed.  I have today added a page to it within the blog section and linked to a domain root from it.  Interestingly the link is a dofollow.

The target domain has sat at position 8 on page 1 for MONTHS.  Above it are a couple of strong pages, however the target domain is soley about the phrase "word1 word2 word3" - it is infact the home of the product and any other websites referencing it are copycat sites who have stolen the name.

Waiting Crawl of parasite blog page.

13/Dec/2015

The new page on the parasite is now indexed along with the link to the target site on it.  The target site has not moved at all.  The parasite domain is webnode.
