CROWD SEARCH ME or CROWDSEARCH.ME CASE STUDY PERFORMANCE REVIEW.

I am quite excited about this one - my actual usage of Crowd Search Me that is.  The idea behind it is something I have often thought about doing myself in terms of possibly writing a script which rotated proxies on my PC.  The belief is that one of the metrics google uses to rank a website is "how often is it clicked on if it is displayed in the serp?" - you can see googles logic.  If it shows a list of websites, and one of them seems to attract more attention than the others, then it would seem to be more attractive to the crowds of people doing the searches.  If it is getting more attention, then it must be appealing to searchers - therefore move it up!

Sounds perfectly reasonable.  The main thing which stopped me from doing my own system here was that the metrics being collected must be through chrome - or GA (google analytics).  If chrome were the case, then each time I issued a search from it, google would simply know that it was coming from the same system installation over and over again.  This would be from user agent strings - or maybe some other hidden information which chrome sends with each search issued.  Who knows - but either way I couldn't get around that fact and therefore I have not done the system.

CrowdSearch.Me appear to have got around the issue by using armies of real people to do the searching clicking and (as an extra) loitering round the site to give a good bounce rate.

My Crowdsearch experiment will focus on two domains.  One of which has no analytics installed (this will help identify how google tracks the data, and whether or not analytics is required for the software to provide ranking results).  Another test will be performed on a website which does have analytics installed - and we will see if there is any difference in serp positioning following a test.

First of all, lets take a look at the marketing or sales page claims compared to what we see once we pay some money.

............... wow - just 3 hours and hitting number 1.  That is certainly a huge selling point - I have no reason to doubt it - none at all - but when I signed up, the interior is not quite as - hmmmm - shall we say "positive"? - see below.

............... So - we go from 3 hours to 2 weeks and upto 60 days AFTER you have PAID.  You see - this is EXACTLY why imjourney.com exists.  Do you understand????

Ok - at this point (reading the above) - I say to myself "here we go" - usual scam bull.  But at the end of the day - the only REAL WAY TO TEST CROWDSEARCH ME is to TRY IT with a case study and review.  My reasoning is that there are so many factors which can influence the outcome - many of which aren't known, that anything can happen here.

My first campaign is going to attempt to boost a wordpress blog page in the serps.  Here's a little bit of background without giving my domain name out - naturally.

Domain age - about 3 months
Current Serp position for phrase - 28
GA installed - NO

So fairly typical really - a straight up no BS article about a place.  Mediocre rankings - no links to that page on the internet from any other domain.  Keep it simple.

Ok - so that's the domain.  Now for the parameters within CrowdSearch for this case study.  Off I go into the website and set up a new campaign.  I am immediately impressed.

Below this, the site explains that the search counts per day which are issued by searchers is set based on the terms monthly search volume - it's all very technical and I am going to put my trust in these guys.  However - it comes down to about 1 search per day.  Now having a think about this, it makes sense, hardly ANYONE searches for this phrase, so it would throw a spanner in the works if google suddenly saw thousands of searches for it, and lo and behold they were ALL stepping over to page 3 and clicking my page!!!  Infact just one search a day doing that could trip a filter - but I really don't want to over think this, I want to run with the folk who made it and rely on their expertise in this field - afterall - it is a service I need - not a service I want to develop myself anymore.

Well, about three days later and the campaign has not had one single click.  So here is the second "here we go" for this project.  Now, at this point I would normally give someone an email - but I really can't be bothered.  I am just going to assume that the volume of the search is too low, so I will choose another page somewhere, a better keyword with more volume and give it a go.

 So I go to their site - and get this shiz.  I'll try again in a bit - but this is all I need.

Ok - site back up - new campaign added - its current position is 9.  Again though - its come up with a very low monthly search.  Hmmmm - must find another one now.  This is tedious.  I really don't want to risk a penalty from google by testing this out on an existing website which is doing fairly well in the SERPS.  I have a few pages like that to say the least, and the last thing I want is pages showing at position 10 at the moment getting shoved back down to 100+.

This is getting tedious.  Only one click showing.  Ive added another domain in now.  Problems though, the system doesn't allow me to select clickers from the UK - so although I can select google.co.uk as the search engine, the clickers IP addresses are from canada and the US (in this case) - which is toss.  Ahh well - we shall see.

Went in today to see if there was any action on the heavier term I set up yesterday.  There are a few more clicks - but nothing to report yet.  Except that the new campaign shows the site is at position NA - whereas I dam well know its at 42.  LOL - Theres nothing like a top bit of programming is there!!!!

I asked them about it - and they told me it can sometimes take their system a while to update.

Well its now about 5 days since I started the crowdsearch me case study with three campaigns.  I did put a good site into one of the campaigns which has a monthly search of thousands for its phrase.

According to the stats within the crowdsearch me control panel - there has been zero daily activity.  I will will write to them and ask them why.

Can you see what an absolote pain in the rear all this bull is?  Sofar I haven't seen anything and all ive done is go round in circles.

One of the campaigns which gets hardly any searches per month - if any at all actually, has had (or at least is reported to have had) - wait for it............ a GRAND TOTAL OF 9 CLICKS AND NO MOVEMENT IN THE SERPS!!!! WHOOPPPEEEEEEE!!!!!  At this rate i'll be planning christmas 2016 before I see a result - even in terms of clicks never mind serp raises.

(Important Update) WOWZER - we have had clicks to the original first campaign!!!!  Thank the gods there is something out there afterall!!!
If you remember from above, this is the campaign to a blog page starting at position 28 or 29 (you have to say give or take the odd position here and there as google tends to move things round bits and bobs).

Anyway - yes - there are now two clicks to the site from the 7th and 8th Oct - which means they must have clicked just after I wrote my post on the 7th.  With the other two campaigns also getting smidges of clicks - I think its time I did a summary update of what I have got running - for clarity for this case study. Ok - back again!  Here it is sofar now.  I'm trying to establish how the system reports its clicks at the moment - in terms of how they are shown in the activity report - it shows costs - but not sure about actual clicks but they are coming through at about 1 per day per campaign.  The costs are credit based, and they have decimal points in them.  It would be good if I could see the total clicks somewhere but it seems to only show the last 10.  The positioning is the most important thing to me - see below how things are panning out.

Update for today - clicks are coming into each domain now at a rate of 1 per day - give or take the odd missing day here or there.
I am surprised at this, as the third campaign gets around 5000 searches a month, whereas the other two get barely any - yet the click rate is roughly the same for all of them - 1 a day or so.  I *think* they would up this for the third campaign if it were on page 1 - as a very high click rate would be out of the ordinary for a site at 42 or so.  Fair enough.

Another update.

i'm not really taken by this to be honest.  The campaigns have been running for well and truly over a month now - and the only real movement I have seen is the daft blog page - a non-money term with 9 words in its phrase (campaign 1).

The second campaign is the one which I was most interested in - as it started on page 1 and I was hoping to see a raise.  Nothing.

A raise of 14 places on the third campaign is nothing special - the area is competetive and theres been quite a bit of juggling around in that arena recently anyway - I really cannot pin down crowd search me to be the cause of the increase of 14 places on campaign 3.  There will be another update - but after a month - this is taking too long to be worthwhile when I consider the lack of movement.

down from the last update by 1 place .  Raises the question - if the initial rise was due to crowdsearch me, how come it stopped going up even though the campaign was still running?  Not convinced.  I feel this page would be at 9 anyway by now from other factors like internal blog linking changing as new posts were added - afterall - you DO carry on adding content whilst using this.  Maybe I should have stopped for the trial.

MY MAIN POINT OF CONTENTION WITH THIS REVIEW HAS BEEN THE FACT THAT DOMAIN 2 DID NOT MOVE AT ALL.  IT WAS BY FAR THE CLEAREST CUT DOMAIN IN THE TRIAL WITH VERY LITTLE COMPETITION AND NO SITE CHANGES GOING ON IN THE BACKGROUND.  NO MOVEMENT.

THE THIRD DOMAIN HAS GONE UP (but google could be messing with this anyway) - AS HAS THE FIRST - BUT I AM UNEASY BECAUSE THE FIRST DOMAIN STOPPED RISING AND DROPPED ONE POSITION DURING THE REVIEW - BUT WHY?.

I MAY REVISIT THIS CROWDSEARCH ME REVIEW AND DO ANOTHER.  BUT FOR NOW - I AM NOT CONVINCED AND CASE CLOSED.
