Source Revive Review and Case Study - BUYING AND SELLING DOMAINS.

This is a very clear cut - easily defined project experiment in buying and also possibly selling domains.  Realistically there are no unknowns here in technical terms.  (I mean no speculation - because we are not dealing with the SEO gurus lies and speculation here - just buy and sell.)

Source wave have come out with a product which scans for expired domains based on keywords which you enter.  This looks ok, as there are many people out there as it were who are currently experimenting with building what a PBN (private blog network).  The aim of the PBN is to personally own a lot of domains, which you can then use to link to a money making site.

Whether or not the PBN is against the google TOS, whether they work, whether they are moral, whether they can be found out and how to avoid detection are all very important topics in the PBN arena, but what this section deals with is really as follows :-

How to find expired domains (how you use them is up to you).
Can these be sold on quickly (or otherwise) at a profit.

As I mentioned this experiment is as simple and clear cut as the above two points.

The method I will be using to locate domains of relative value (in terms of PA DA) is achieved with a piece of software from sourcewave called source revive.  I am going to go for a trial version and see if I can purchase a few domains, then sell them at a profit.

The software has a "marketplace" built into it whereby people looking for domains are actively buying, but why they don't just subscribe to the source revive domain locator program in the first place - I cannot fathom - mind you it is expensive, so for those wanting to pick up the odd domain here and there its probably not worth doing.

So first up - I will sign up - it wants me to use a different email address than the one I used to sign up with them before on a different product - so theres the first arse ache of the day - creating a new forwarder.  LOL nothing is ever straightforward is it?

To be honest, its always worth creating new forwarders in this game anyway - because after a while, your email will be ruined - seriously, this is a game of sharks (IM), and if you sign up to the wrong program with your best / primary email address then you will lose it to constant spam.  With a forwarder, its easy to just delete it in your hosting control panel once the spam starts flying in.

Ok - so I watched the video and immediately have a question - it says "post a load of urls in" - what the hell are these URLS?  How was the list attained?  Ok - so I go and enter a keyword instead.  So off we go - case study and results report below.

SOURCE REVIVE CASE STUDY.

Here is the outline of what I intend to do - and below, I will show you the results.

So this project.

1.  I will sign up with the free trial of source revive.
2.  I will enter a keyword and see what expired domains it comes back with.
3.  I will evaluate the domains and purchase some.
4.  I will place the domains in the market place at a slightly inflated price.
5.  I will see if I get the price I want.

PROJECT PROGRESS REPORT.

10/July/ 2015

Signed up for free account at source wave for source revive

Set crawl off for my keyword.

Refreshed page and it crashed.  Will report back on findings.

Ok - I closed the browser and logged back in again - the system had come back with some domains.  None of which I was interested in - but it did what it said on the tin - off to do another crawl.  This time, I will do a URL crawl, as I now understand that this will crawl a site and find links that that site is linking to.  This is interesting.

12/July/ 2015

Getting tedious now this.  Its a new release so I don't expect the world in terms of how it works etc. but I am struggling for time now.  Over the weekend I was pasting in too many URL's for the crawl, and the system was just crashing with the error at the bottom of this page.
Anyway - support got on to me via facebook which was extremely handy, my account was reset to another 3 days as I had lost pretty much all time on the demo due to me doing things wrong and jobs just not running (crawls = jobs).
Last night (Sunday) I had my old account deleted by support, and then created a new one.  I could log in ok and sent in a list of URLs to crawl.  A couple of hours later it was still running and I had to turn off the PC.  Thinking I could check up on it this morning, I went to the site to log in and couldn't get in.

Now nobody's perfect, so I thought maybe I had forgotten my password, so I logged into my cpanel for the email address I had provided, checked the forwarder name, opened up email, sent myself a message to the forwarder to test it was working - it was.  Then I went back to source revive and tried to reset my password.  It asks me for an email, I enter it, and nothing happens.

I have lost too much time on this - I will now have to contact support to allow me to log in.

Ok, support have been great, the thing is that I have done a few crawls and got a domain up there with a fair DA.  Its a .co.uk.  To be honest - this is not for me.  The program does indeed find expired domains with good DA and PA, however i'm not in the market for this type of thing, and whether for SEO or just selling them on, the $199 price tag is just too much for me at the moment.

Overall though, the trial worked sofar as locating the domains, I am not sure how effective the marketplace is, but if you need to get your hands on good domains and can afford the price, then this is a great tool.  You set it off and walk away - when you get back, the domains are waiting for you.

Source Revive Review Buy and Sell Domains.

Above - a screenshot of source revive from the demo video - this is the screen of the free software sign up I have joined - it will only last for 3 days.  If I like it - and indeed it looks good and I may need it - I will subscribe to the full version - naturally it depends on whether its of use to me right now.

Source Revive Error

Above - So running source revive for about 20 or 30 mins doing a crawl and I refresh the page wondering what its upto.  This pops up.  So basically I don't know now whats going on - it didnt find me any domains to sell on the initial runs which I managed to get through.  It turned out I was pasting in too many domains - I entered a list of 9000 - but support advises 50 to 250 at a time!!
